At the global level, APAARI’s key partner is currently the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) that has supported APAARI since the Association’s establishment in 1990. Since 2014, the main focus of collaboration has been on Capacity Development for Agricultural Innovation Systems (CD for AIS) in the context of the global partnership under the Tropical Agriculture Platform (TAP), and financial support from the European Union (EU). This collaboration has recently expanded by including the testing of the FAO-designed AIS Assessment Guidelines in Thailand. APAARI’s partnership with the Global Forum on Agricultural Research and Innovation (GFAR) has been in promoting improved quality investments in agricultural research and innovations, and capacity development of youth. Through its commitment for data-driven and evidence-based programmes, APAARI has embraced the principles of the Global Open Data for Agriculture and Nutrition (GODAN), which the Association has been promoting among its members, partners and other stakeholders. In 2018, APAARI entered into partnership with the Global Confederation of Higher Education Associations for Agricultural and Life Sciences (GCHERA) to collectively promote transformation of agricultural education through improved leadership in education, research and innovation, and capacity of agricultural graduates to play more active roles in the strengthening of AIS.
