A plant scientist from the University of Western Australia (UWA), Professor Jacqueline Batley from the School of Biological Sciences, was awarded a Nancy Millis Medal for Women in Science after she established a research on crop genetics enabling breeders of oilseed crop canola with resistance to disease and climate conditions. She mentioned that studying the DNA of plants will understand its resilience and improve the quality and quantity of crop production security.  She’s honoured to receive the award and cited that Nancy Millis was an inspiration and role model and hoping it would encourage young women to see the benefits of STEM career.
