Dr Ravi Khetarpal, Executive Secretary and Dr Rishi Tyagi, Coordinator, Asia-Pacific Consortium on Agricultural Biotechnology (APCoAB),  APAARI, participated in  World Food Day 2017 on October 16, 2017, at FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, Bangkok. The theme of World Food Day was “Change the Future of Migration: Invest in Food Security and Rural Development”.

Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graced the occasion and addressed the gathering. She mentioned that harnessing the potential of migration and investing in rural economies will help lead us to our common goal of ending hunger and malnutrition once and for all.

In the beginning, Dr Kundhavi Kadiresan, ADG, FAO RAP, welcomed Royal Highness Princess and all others and  introduced the theme of World Food Day 2017 and its relevance.  Five model farmers from As-a Pacfic region were honored for their exemplary contributions. It was followed by a talk by Ms Bina Agrawal, Professor of Development Economics and Environment at Global Institute, University of Manchester, UK.
